Detox day 11 and 12!

Tonight I felt the support of my “email. buddies” which is you!
My son Harry brought home my favorite- you know it… Carvel ice cream-perfectly melted, vanilla mixed with chocolate. Normally I wouldn’t waver, but tonight, Harry was on his way leaving to Israel for the next few months.  I was happy that he was going, to learn in a Yeshivah, but of course sad. Even though my house thank G-d, is super busy with a teenagers, toddlers and grand kids- as all moms know, each child adds something special.  With Harry about to leave for his flight- I was feeling the need for comfort food, aka-Cookies! Chocolate!
Of course I passed it up. Not because I would gain weight, or turn back into a sugar addict if I indulged a little. But, because MY WORD is POWERFUL. What I say means something. The way we train our bodies to be strong by doing, let’s say, push-ups or squats, we can also train our brain to be strong as well.
Understanding that I have the power of my thoughts was the most important thing I learned last year on my sugar challenge. I know I will use that knowledge for the rest of my life as I encounter different challenges, self-inflicted or not.
For example, the fitness enthusiasts who are receiving this e-mail can testify that at some point in their life they decided to reap the benefits of exercise for their bodies. These women actually trained their brain to know, every morning “I exercise, no matter what.” One of the more powerful tools that we are all experiencing together is the power of OUR WORD. We are declaring as a group that we are not going to eat sugar for 30 days-no matter what. I of course passed up on the urge for the sweets! We gave our word, we are training our brains and thought process. We are feeling powerful because we are allowing ourselves to have the power of choice!

What we DESIRE we can ACHIEVE thru the POWER of our WORD.
Thank you “Detox Buddies” for being there when I needed you most!

On another note; one that is on a grand scale for me; is what this newsletter is doing for me.

As you know, I have been teaching fitness-based classes for 20 years. I worked hard each and every day. I always felt as if I was only as good as my “last class.”  It was an awesome ride, though thoroughly exhausting! Via your responses I feel as if I could do anything. My love for empowering women with health and fitness is endless, but it’s truly because of you, that I realize that potential.

Below is a response that simply reminds me that its all worth it!

“I have to tell you that thanks to you and your motivation that I’m on this sugar free diet. As you already have been hearing from others, it has led me to eat healthy through all my meals as well. I haven’t been committed to such a healthy lifestyle since I was a teenager (before all the kids started coming along). Now at 40 you realize that pounds don’t shed so easily, and you fear that your at risk of inheriting your parents health diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressures…etc. The only way to fight them is through a healthy lifestyle. So hats off to you for all the encouragement because looking at my parents health history I’ll need all the help I can get.”

“To my “Detox Buddies”

I was successful on Day 11 and 12- though I almost wasn’t. My mind feels good, actually very good. I feel clearer and not as bogged down.

As for my body, I don’t feel like that I even lost a pound, (I know its not the focus, but it would be nice to have loose skinny jeans!) but in Yoga today I felt extra flexible- I totally put the “Sugar Detox” accountable!
