On Rosh Hashanah, many Jewish Hostesses make a huge effort to include new fruits in their recipes for their holiday menu. These new fruits symbolize a fresh start to another New Year .  Not typically found throughout the year, the royal “fall fig” ripens in August. Sweet ingredients such as honey (used to dip with apples  for the Rosh Hashanah seder)  are also sought after for the many dishes that we plan to prepare. No need to let that holiday anxiety creep in! This easy  recipe for Roasted Saffron Chicken with Figs and Drizzled Honey submitted by  jewreallylove2cook on Instagram is not complicated, and  is the perfect addition to your Jewish New Year’s holiday menu!

The directions say to cook onions til translucent but there is no amount or type of onions in the recipe…

  2. Thanks SO much for this outstanding recipe! I made it for Rosh Hashana using cut up chickens rather than just thighs and it was OUTSTANDING! I loved the flavor of the saffron blended with the honey and fresh figs. It was sweet and savory all at the same time. It’s one of my new favorite chicken recipes! Thanks again! Sharon

Melissa as every oven is different I keep checking my chicken every 20 min to see when the meat falls off the bone and not shiny and chewy. Usually 45 min to an hour.

Can’t wait to make this one tomorrow night! About how long in the oven for one org of thighs? I will using 2-3 but would love an approximate!!! L’shana tova!
