p.s.  Thank you Grace Dabah for the gorgeous photography!

“Hi Marlene,

For this Hanukka display, I applied  gold paint  mixed with gold glitter  to wood branches as a centerpiece. I also dipped dreidels into the gold paint and  tied them on to trees with pretty ribbon for the Hanukkah centerpiece . Gold sparkly  initials attached to mirrored squares were used  as elegant place cards.

Organza ribbon and chocolate coins were assembled and used as a napkin ring. I used inexpensive fabric from Joanne fabrics to make a cloth runner .

The artificial silk flowers look  are from Paris and can be purchased from  Surrey lane stores in Brooklyn and Deal N.J.
The glass goblets can also be purchased at Surrey Lane also. Happy Hanukka to all of the Jewish Hostesses out there!

Doris Dwek”

Raquel Fallas’s Inspiring Hanukkah Table

4 Comments 10 December 2014

Dear Raquel, Its amazing to see how many gorgeous tables evolved out of one Maccabee Hanukkah holiday! Even though your table may not have cost a fortune, it looks like a million bucks! I love how you tied up the napkins and placed the gift boxes along the table! Stunning! Marlene M.

“Dear Marlene,

I love to have fun setting my table for all different kinds of events. I recently heard about your website and decided to check it out. I loved so many of the ideas I decided to share my own.
I had a small Chanukah dinner party and stuck to the traditional blue and silver theme. I put a silver table cloth by Allison (718) 415-3860 and 5 mirror squares lined up as my runner from Amazing Savings (a great thing to have and keep for all kinds of ocassions). On the mirrors I scattered chocolate coins, glittered snow flakes that cost $1 and filled blue candle holders from Ikea with dreidels. As a finishing touch I sprinkled blue sprinkles on the mirrors.
I used my Murval placemats which I already owned from Kitchen Caboodles. As accents, I used blue and silver boxes from Amazing Savings which were less than $2 with a small gift inside for each of my guests. I also cut out dreidel shaped placecards. Instead of the traditional napkin rings I used a ‘Happy Hannukah’ ribbbon to wrap my napkins as a gift- as a little treat I placed chocolate coins in each napkin!
From,
Raquel Fallas”

“Hi Marlene!
First off i have to say I LOVE your blog/website and check for updates several times a day. I cant tell you how helpful it is, especially being a newlywed and trying to come up with new ideas all the time.
With Hanuka being my favorite holiday, I decided to whip up a brunch for both sides of my family (first time ever cooking for anyone besides for my husband!).Okay, so really everything was budget friendly.. Though it required 6 trips to 3 different home goods…! All the candy Apothecary jars were from there and I filled them with different things like dreidels ornaments chocolate gelt gum balls etc.. Feathers and vase were from Julie’s flowers…

The menu was simple- mini pizzas ,sambosak, string beans with galic sauce, beschamel, salmon with sweet and sour sauce, falafel salad sandwiches and pasta with basil and mushrooms.  Your website helped spark the creativity and everything just flowed from there, so Thank you!  -Paula Bekar Benzaken”

The Gorgeous Hanukah Table Setting at Table Set Go in Deal, New Jersey

4 Comments 04 November 2012

Alls I can say is “WOW” to the fantastic Hanukka table created by Betty Esses and Gracie Silvera. They really put their heart and soul into their Hanukka  display for The Morris I. Franco Community Cancer Center Table-Set-Go charity event in Deal, New Jersey. The ladies used a deep ocean blue colored cloth as a base for their Hanukka table and layered it on the festive Hanukka colors from there. Silver Chilewich placemats lined their elegant but casual silver rimmed china. A Tiffany shopping bag graced each place setting. Grace Sivera’s dreidel collection, amassed from her travels all over the world came in handy as she creatively dangled a unique dreidel from each turquiose blue Tiffany mini gift bag. Driedels that were drizzled along the table were craftily dipped in glue and then blue and silver glitter, and added even more sparkle to their Hanukka table decor. The hydrangea filled blue vases were purchased from Home Goods, and the unique sterling and blue dotted drinking glasses were borrowed from Surrey Lane on Avenue P in Brooklyn. Even though it was the middle of the sumer, Grace and Betty fried soufganiyot and baked Hanukka cookies!  Blue and silver ribbons of different widths and colors tied around the soufganiyot platter flowed down both sides of the table.

Thanks so much ladies for your fabulous Hanukka inspiration!!!!

WoW! Raquel! Thanks for sharing your fabulous table setting with us! So classy and unique! I’m going to save this idea for a Father’s Day table.

Dear Hostesses! Please comment below if you loved the effort that Raquel put into her husband’s birthday table setting! Marlene

“Anyone who knows my husband knows what a great dresser he is. So, In honor of his birthday,  I “dressed” the table in his favorite style! I used a navy pinstriped fabric for the tablecloth and bought a variety of pocket squares online and folded them with the napkins. A friend lent me napkin rings that were actually small leather belts. Each setting had a mini martini glass with hummus and a Moroccan cigar. The flowers were simple red roses and his own ties were tied into bows beside them. The table was set so true to his own personal style that we joked all weekend that it looked like he was lying on the table! Raquel Franco”

Thank you Rachelle, for sending in your beautiful Hanukkah table photos!!!  I love all of the holiday sparkle and gorgeous flowers!! Marlene

“Hi Marlene,

I used my silver tablecloth blue napkins under a mirrored placemat. I bought lucite napkin rings that have a little hole for water and a flower from Parci Parla in Brooklyn, NY.. Then I used those sparkley dreidles as name card holders, and hung some from chandelier. I placed white orchids in the vase and real flowers in the napkin ring. I purchased all the candlesticks and candles from Ikea. After the whole hanukka table was set,  I threw  blue shiny sprinkles all over the table. Got a lot of ideas from your site ! Came out gorgeous. Thank u!!!!! ” Rachelle Cohen

“Hi Marlene,

First I want to state that these gorgeous tables are not my creation and I can’t take credit for them.  I made the Shalom Bayis challah and suggested the Build-a-Bears.  The rest was created by  my friend who hosted the Simcha along with her friend who is a party planner. They were inspired by the peacock Chanukah Tablescape from the Chanukah edition of Mishpacha Magazine’s Family First.  They used a dark blue velvet tablecloth, laced the tablecloth with gorgeous green ribbons and alternated peacock and blue feathers on each plate.  The feathers were on top of green napkins that matched the ribbon lacing .  They put small white boxes with mints, green ribbon and name tags on each plate on top of the napkins and feathers.  They had tall, thin vases with feathers on the head table and flowers on the rest of the tables.  The dishes were all white to give a gorgeous contrast of the rich blues and greens.  It was stunning! ”

I really thought that I’d seen all of the possible combinations of  Hanukka table designs! Barbara Franco’s table broke the blue and silver mold yet still transformed the Hanukka atmosphere with lucite gift boxes and Hanuka gelt. Hooray for the simply modern Hanukkah table! Great job, Barbara!  Love, Marlene M

“Hi Marlene,

I invited my friends over for Hanukkah. I used a navy pinstripe tablecloth with mini gold vases filled with orange orchids Each place setting had a silver charger with a navy glass plate and a glass salad plate with a gold rim on top.  Instead of place cards, I used clear plastic boxes with a black and white picture of each person. Inside the boxes were gold and silver chocolate coins. Hope you like it!
