Lorene’s Two Summer Table Settings-Flower Garden and Sea Side Inspired Dinners

4 Comments 14 May 2012

Thanks Lorene Sasson for sharing two of your holiday tables with us! I love the holiday colors and themes that you chose! Now I’m ready for summer! Marlene

Hi Marlene!

The first night of Shavuot I went for the summer/ocean/colorful look, and for the second night, I went for a garden feel. I actually bought the mirrors and the silver chargers from Amazing Savings. The napkins and rings are from Bed Bath and Beyond.

I also used shower gifts from 6 years ago. The silverware was a gift from my sister, as well as the dishes and stemware. I love making the holiday by me  because I can use the items that are really special to me.
I was going to go thru with the whole summer/oceanside feel- but then I saw the flowers at the shop stuffed together and i love COLOR and at the last minute my whole table changed. but to stay true to my original theme, I threw in some ocean glass.

The second night-  I bought new dishes from home goods (Mikasa Cherry Blossom) and I already had cherry blossom branches that I have never known what do do with EVER so i put them away. I decided to bring them out of the closet and add them to the table with my new dishes.
The table runner is Lenox. The  pewter dragonfly/butterfly plates were a gift from my mother who was not here for the holiday this year, so it gave me the chance to make the nights by me. I cant wait to show her the pictures,I know she’ll love them!

I am very pleased with this table because everything really fell together nicely in the garden theme.

Thanks Marlene,  and Shabat Shalom!!

Holiday Nautical Low-Key Glamour by the Shore

The talented Irene Kassin, owner of  Parci Parla styled this Shavuot table for her client Rachel Dweck.

Glass dishes were updated with Kim Seybert blue tie dye napkins. Kim Seybert white coral napkin rings and silver square chargers are the perfect accent for this summer table setting. I LOVE the jolt of aquatic blues and coral accents that infuse this holiday table with a nautical, sun soaked elegance.

To top it all off, three large blue glass vases filled with banana leaves and fresh cut  pink cherry blossoms feel right at home in the center of this gorgeous table.

Great job, Irene!!!

How to Fold your Linen Napkins for the Holidays

4 Comments 02 May 2011

Its time to take out those crisp linen napkins that have been hiding all winter!

Capture the spirit of  springtime by folding napkins with the Lotus fold.

Use small bowls or votives to float a  flower in the center of each flower fold:

For a huge selection of votives and candles in all shapes and colors click Here.

Enjoy your Shavuot, and let the kids help with the napkin folding!

Use What You Have Table Setting…

No Comments 10 May 2010

I created this table setting with things I had laying around the house…

It’s my idea of a  perfect breakfast/brunch for two. I think it would be absolutely GORGEOUS as a Shavuot table setting set for a family as well.

Many people own white dishes, and this table setting makes a case for them. Why? You can combine them with other sets, bright napkins look fabulous with them and they can never go out of style.  (Mine were actually my mother’s! They are over 25 years old but they still sell them in department stores today! How is that for timeless!)

I added in these bowls that I recently bought from Anthropology($12), colorful napkins that I bought a few years ago and brightly colored glasses that were a wedding gift. Here are some similar ones.

I used a white linen hemstitch placemat, which is perfect for a breakfast or a lunch. You can buy some HERE ($54.00/Set of 6).

It also helps that I have an absolutely beautiful centerpiece that I took from my nephew’s bar mitzvah yesterday!

The point is… You can mix and match the pieces that you already own to create beautiful tablescapes that are both charming and interesting!

How do you change it up for the holidays? Do you mix and match your sets of dishes? Send us photos, we would love to publish them!

Happy Shavuot!
