My Summery Lavender and Blues Shabbat Table

Please “LIKE” my SHABBAT TABLE!

First of all, I would like to thank all of my Jewish Hostesses for sending in their beautiful summery Shabbat table pics for our “Summery Shabbat Table Contest”.

I also knew that if I didn’t post my own Summery Shabbat table pics pretty soon then I would probably get officially fired as “The Jewish Hostess” by all of my wonderful readers, so here goes:

I decided to see if I could mix all of the  purple, lavender and blue tabletop items in my house, and see if I could whip up a “Summery Shabbat” table for my family to enjoy.
On Tuesday I was lucky enough to receive a gorgeous bouquet of hydrangeas and roses from a friend(by Sheila Bibi Fine Flowers).  The flowers were still so pretty and alive by Friday morning, I decided to separate them and divide them up into short blue juice glasses that I’ve had forever.

I placed them on gold leaf trays that I bought last summer from One Kings Lane. The blue flower candle holders are also from One Kings Lane.

I always find great table top treasures from that site when I don’t have time to shop around in the stores. I placed tea lights in blue glass votive that I found in Pier One imports about 10 years ago.

Atop the mauve laquered dining room table( that one belonged to my parents), I placed three cool tablecloths that were also purchased from One Kings Lane.

(They were originally labeled as towels, so I bought them thinking they were cool as kitchen towels. When they came in HUGE I decided to use them as tablecloths instead of returning them.)

In the center of the table below I placed some flowers atop a gold sprayed mosaic tray that my daughter made in summer camp a couple of years ago.

Turquoise On Your Table

No Comments 10 August 2011

Shelly Anteby effortlessly  breezes through each day  in her classic style and always makes sure to pull off a unique and daring table setting weekly.

“I start pulling out my Shabbat table setting from Wednesday. I pull out and see what works. Its not planned. By Thursday my table is set. This week I planned a turquoise theme. You could call it Indian or Moroccan inspired, because of the turquoise color and the stones. I started with the turquoise Kim Seybert runner and then offset it with seafoam green mother of pearl chargers as a base for each plate. I topped the chargers with clear turquoise oversized dishes that I found in IKEA.

My turquoise Limoges salad plates helped accent the jeweled napkin rings.I love to find table accents in Home Goods or Target.

In the center of the table I usually raise my salads and appetizers in little bowls on top of a simple glass tray. That becomes my centerpiece.

The point is to have fun with your  Shabbat table setting and just be spontaneous.”

Mother of Pearl and Coral Themed Shabbat Table Setting

6 Comments 06 August 2011

“Last week I started to take out my props to start setting my Shabbat table. For some reason I kept getting interrupted. First the phone kept ringing. Then the doorbell, then the plumber asking questions about everything except going to the moon! It was not meant for me to finish or let alone even start! At that point, a friend stopped by with her six year old daughter and she was the one who basically told me what she liked from my dishes and napkins,  and the rest of the things that you see on my table!

So there you go, its so easy to make a table work if you play with accessories in your home. Even a six year old can do it. Just don’t be intimidated . There are no rules to follow. We used a double place mat. One is brown beads and the other is sea foam green mother of pearl. I found the dishes in home goods. What a score! They had service for 24! The napkin rings are  coral beads by Kim Seybert, and my six year old friend insisted on the color napkin! It was fun to see that anything she wanted to use seemed to look fine!

I think next week I will call her again!” Shelly Antebi
