This past summer, Millo and Sam Haddad hosted the annual Table Set Go competition benefitting the SBH Morris I. Franco Community Cancer Canter in the seaside town of Elberon, N.J.

The Community Cancer Center is a tremendous resource for so many families in our community. Please watch the video above for amazing inspiration that may be of value to share with someone you know. For confidential assistance or any questions that you may have, please call the Community Cancer Center at (718)787-1800.

At the Table Set Go Event of 2012, several teams of talented and creative women competed to win the title of “Most Creative Table” by the well known queen of dessert bars, Amy Atlas.

The first dazzling table of the day, was styled by Robin Braca, Rachel Khafif, and Jill Khafif. This ladies tea, inspired by the one and only Coco Chanel, got oohs and ahhhs from all the women who flocked over to this classic setting. Upon first glance, you would think that this million dollar look cost a bundle, but when I interviewed these pretty ladies, I was so pleasantly surprised to hear that the white ceramic dishes were purchased from Marshalls, and the inexpensive chargers were from Macy’s. They didn’t hold back their table setting secrets as they described how they beaded  pearls by Bead World one by one to border each charger, and sewed each napkin ring individually with camellias from M and J Trim in Manhattan. They even effortlessly pressed pearls into rolled fondant to create a cake that Coco herself would have been proud to put on her plate!

Flatware – by Diane Von Furstenburg from Neiman Marcus.

Stay tuned for a new peek at another table setting from the event every week!

Pureed Peas with Mint for Your Babies or Grandkids

No Comments 15 May 2011

Sometimes I wonder what life would have been like if I had a computer when my  kids were growing up.

On one hand, I would have loved reading blogs like Sissy and Marley, from moms that gave me good advice about how to make organic baby food, and  how to add spices to my kids food, and  warn me about what pacifiers had poisons in them like BPAs, Phthalates, and PVCs….

But on the other hand, I can just imagine baby food encrusted on my laptop  as I breast fed and tried to type at the same time, or g-d forbid getting engrossed in a Neiman Marcus online super sale while my toddlers were pulling each other’s hair out….

Fast forward to 2011!

What do you think of this baby food recipe?? Its actually a healthy  recipe for babies who should be enjoying their vegetables. Mint is also said to help toddlers with gassy issues. Why not introduce babies 8 months and older to spices like garlic – minced or powdered, basil, rosemary, dill, oregano, lemon zest, ginger, cinnamon
mint or nutmeg? Of course ask your doctor first, and check out a variety of great baby food cookbooks out there such as this book by Annabel Karmel. Top 100 Baby Purees: 100 Quick and Easy Meals for a Healthy and Happy Baby

If you are a grandma, why not whip up a batch of this gourmet baby food, pour into a sterilized jars, maybe wrap with a little ribbon and drop it off to your daughter or daughter in law’s house?  Here is one healthy baby food recipe to try:

PEA PUREE WITH MINT

Ingredients: Organic Peas {fresh or frozen} + Fresh Mint

Fill a pot with a few inches of water. Place peas in a steamer basket and insert into pot. Bring to a boil. Cover. Steam the peas until tender, about 3 minutes (thawed frozen peas) to 5 minutes (fresh or frozen peas). Remove the basket and allow peas to cool. Reserve the cooking liquid for pureeing. Puree peas and 2 small mint leaves in a food processor until smooth. Thin to desired consistency using reserved liquid.

Kitchen Notes:

Store in refrigerator in an airtight container. Or fill ice cube trays with puree, cover and freeze. Transfer cubes to freezer bags. Label and date. Thaw cubes overnight in refrigerator.

Refrigerate up to 3 days

Freeze up to 3 months

Separates are great

by Marceline Gindi

Passover is around the corner and with all our kitchen duties; we find time to obsess over what to wear…  So whether you are home, or away for the holidays, everyone wants a fresh new look.  Don’t forget spring  (should be) is in the air.

Right now you’re probably confused with all the trends.

I know sometimes I get crazy from all of the choices. My belief is, always be classic but with an element of surprise. For Passover Seder nights separates are great, like printed flirty skirts with solid knits Try adding a trendy chunky necklace, or a beautiful jeweled belt. Structured military style skirts with silk blouses are a cool twist.

Try adding a trendy chunky necklace

So what if u want to wear last years dress?
No worries! BCBG has cool and affordable belts that will quickly update your look. You can even put a structured blazer over any dress for a tailored style, Zara has a bunch in all colors and they look great.

How about going for some gold?  As in shoes of course!   Any Yves Saint Laurent platforms are to die for.   Or Valentino wedge espadrilles go from day to night.

So whatever you choose, have fun, walk tall, because being happy and feeling great is the best fashion DO!

Happy Holidays!
